Nockamixon State Park
Nockamixon State Park is one of the best places to see fall foliage near Ambler because you get to see the trees reflecting off the river. It’s also just a stunning park! You can rent kayaks or paddleboards if it’s not too cold, or walk along the river and take photos.


Valley Forge National Historic Park
Valley Forge National Historic Park has to be one of the best places for fall foliage views with hiking and history!
The 3,500-acre park takes you back to the times of the Revolutionary War history. The log cabins you see at the park are from when the Continental soldiers stayed there in 1777-1778, and there’s an area with cannons and a stone building where George Washington would meet with military officials.
History aside, there are stunning hiking trails that take you into the thick of autumn colors. I’d plan on spending about 3 hours there minimum if you do a hike.
Train Rides in PA for Fall Foliage
If you want to change things up, book a train ride in PA for fall foliage! There are round-trip train ride options so you don’t end up far away, and some are especially interesting, like the New Hope Railroad on a 1920s vintage coach (1.15 hours from Ambler).

Explore Bucks County by driving over the historic covered bridges in the area. There were originally 50+ covered bridges built by Ithiel Town and now 12 remain, with the last one built in 1875! This route is a unique option to take in the fall foliage while seeing local history.

There are tons of fall foliage festivals in PA, especially in Bucks County and Montgomery County that surround Ambler. If you go before Halloween, there are also TONS of spooky Halloween activities for adults and families alike. The Ambler Theater
The top attraction in Downtown Ambler is the Ambler Theater. This historic theater was opened by Warner Bros. in 1928 and has been fully restored to it’s former glory. It is absolutely beautiful and a must-visit for a movie or just taking photos and seeing the beauty.

Every time my sister and I visit family in Ambler, we make a point to go to Pie and Plate Cafe for a quiche and coffee. This year, we also had AMAZING fall drinks at Wake Cafe, so I recommend you hit up both these cozy spots for coffee or breakfast!

Grab yourself a soul-warming Old Fashioned and Big Grilled Pretzel at the Lucky Well right on E Butler Ave. in Downtown Ambler. It’s such a cozy fall snack that wards off the chill after hiking or exploring all day. The Lucky Well is also a great spot for a full dinner or lunch.
